Le village de Tranh Khuc (commune de Duyên Ha, district de Thanh Tri, Hanoï) est réputé depuis des siècles pour ses délicieux gâteaux de riz gluant (bánh chưng). Un artisanat pratiqué depuis des générations qui a contribué à développer l’économie de Tranh Khuc.
Les habitants de Tranh Khuc sont très exigeants et n’achètent que les variétés de riz de Hai Hau, province de Nam Dinh. Puis ils immergent le riz dans l’eau avec du sel de 12 à 14 heures, et le laisse sécher.
La confection des gâteaux de riz gluant est le métier principal des villageois de Tranh Khuc, qui les confectionnent tout le long de l’année. Au 15e jour de chaque mois lunaire, chaque famille achète de 200 à 300 kg de riz pour fabriquer des bánh chưng vendus 25.000 dongs pièce. Plus de 200 foyers de Tranh Khuc pratiquent ce métier qui rapporte chaque mois en moyenne 5 millions de dongs à chaque personne.
